Turkeyթ§Չ‚-Չ„§s Ministry of Interior refused to pay compensation to Hrant Dinkթ§Չ‚-Չ„§s family

ANKARA. – Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, refused to accept the decision of 10th Istanbul administrative court, which obliged the agency to pay a compensation of 100 thousand liras ($ 70 thousand) to the brothers of the murdered journalist of Armenian origin Hrant Dink, arguing that it would lead to թ§Չ‚-ժ“unjustified enrichmentթ§Չ‚-Թ for Dinkթ§Չ‚-Չ„§s family.

Turkish Interior Ministry disputed the decision of the court, stating that it carries no blame and responsibility for the scandalous murder. The ministry declared that Dink demanded their protection but they had no information on the necessity of such step, reports Turkish Bianet.

թ§Չ‚-ժ“Paying 100,000 Turkish Liras in compensation for non-pecuniary damages would lead to թ§Չ‚-ժ“unjustified enrichmentթ§Չ‚-Թ for Dinkթ§Չ‚-Չ„§s family,թ§Չ‚-Թ said the ministry.

Dink family lawyer Fethiye Cetin called this shameful speech unacceptable and appalling.

“The European Court of Human Rights found Turkey guilty in the murder of Hrant Dink and Turkish president said “we failed to protect Dink”. Turkey declared that it would not challenge the decision by the ECHR but it seems the Interior Ministry does not consider that in its speech. Moreover, they used expressions contradicting not only to legal but also moral and ethical standards,” said the lawyer.
